It is essentially the western end of the great Gulf of Rethymnon, which extends 13 km east to Skaleta

The Triopetra Beach is located 52km south of Rethymno and 13km southeast of Akoumia Village, at the foot of the mountain SiderotaTriopetra Beach consists of two beaches, which are separated by a small peninsula. At the edge of the peninsula, in the sea, stand three imposing rocks, from which the area takes its name.

Spilies Beach

Spilies Beach

Beach of Kitrenosis, known as Spilies Beach or Maliou Stream is located 15km east of Rethymno, in the quet area of Latzimas, few Kilometers east of Skaleta and just before Geropotamos. It is quite unknown to most visitors, though it is very close to the highway that connects Heraklion and Rethymno. It is formed in a small rocky bay with a pebbly beach and crystal clear deep waters, protected by vertical cliffs.

Balos Lagoon

The famous Lagoon of Balos is located 56km Northwest of Chania and 17km Northwest of Kissamos. It is formed between the Cape Gramvousa and the small Cape Tigani. Is famous for its turquoise waters, the wild natural beauty and the beautiful exotic scenery. The lagoon of Balos has white sand and exotic white, vivid blue and turquoise waters. The sea is very shallow and warm, ideal for young children.

Falasarna Beach

The exotic beach of Falasarna is located 59km west of Chania and 17Km west of Kissamos, on the west side of Peninsula Gramvousa. At the northern end of the beach there are the ruins of the ancient Grecoroman city of Phalassarna. Falassarna bay hosts some of the most famous beaches in Greece, which has been awarded as the best beach of Crete and voted as one of the 10 best beaches in Europe several times in the past. Falasarna spans a large area and consists actually of five consecutive beaches, with the two most central being the most favorite. The sand in Falassarna is whitish, making the water color tropical.

Episkopi Beach

Episkopi Beach

Beach of Episkopi is located 45km east of Chania and 14km west of Rethymno, in a fertile plain with extensive olive groves. It takes its name from the main village of Episkopi located 2km to the south. Almost no-one Greek knows this place, but everybody knows the family Vardinoyannis, originating from here; this is one of the richest business families in Greece. Is part of the big Georgioupolis Beach bounded on the west by the river Mouselas in the place of Ancient Hydramiaand on the east by the river that runs in the Gorge of Petres and the Beaches of Petres.

The Elafonissi Beach is located 76Km southwest of Chania. Is part of Natura 2000 protected area Natura, is full of sand dunes with sea daffodils and jupiners. The endangered loggerhead sea turtle and several more rare animals and plants find shelter on the island; it is strictly forbidden to remove any plants animals, shells, and sand from the area.. Exotic beaches with white sand and turquoise water, reminding of the Caribbean, are formed on either side of the peninsula.

Preveli Beach Preveli Beach is located 35km south of Rethymno and 10km east of Plakias beachPreveli Beach also known as Lake Preveli or Phoenixis located at the exit of Grand River who flows through the imposing Kourtaliotis Gorge and Fratiano's Gorge. On the banks of Grand River is forming the second-largest palm Tree Forest of Crete, right after the first larges Palm Tree Forest of Vai, hosting the local Cretan PalmTree of Theophrastos.

Plakias Beach

Plakias

The Plakias is a popular tourist resort, located 36km south of Rethymno, at the exit of a fertile valley south of the and Kouroupa. Next to it empties the river Kotsifos.  One of the major growth drivers of the region is the long beachfront, known as Gialia. The main beach starts near the town and extends to the east for 1.3km, up to Cape Mouri.
